Moving('Splitting') or Deleting Single Posts

  • Make sure that you have Delete and Split permissions.

  • Click Edit next to the post that you want to delete or split. This post has to be a reply, not the first post in a topic- as then you would use the topic management features to work with it.

    • The Delete and Split options are located at the top of the page, above the edit screen. Click to expand these options (similar to the topic functions at the bottom of the topic).

    • Delete is just that: it removes the post without a trace. Any replies to it get reassigned to the main post in the topic.

    • Split allows you to split the topic starting at the post you're editing. You can split it to a new forum or the same forum, and you will be able to alter the subject line of the post. You can also choose whether to include the replies to that specific post or, if unchecked, it will be just that specific post that is moved. (Any replies will get reassigned to the original topic post.)

  • After you move a post to another forum, you can choose to leave a pointer to the new location.

    • If at some point in the future you wish to purge or delete the pointer in the old location you can edit the first post of that thread and click the Delete option once. Once you've done that, there will be a new option: Delete Only the Moved Pointer for this topic.
