: I have lost most of my menu selections in the admin area after editing permissions for the new options.

    In response to Excelsior

You're missing some language strings. Try this. Go into your Admin CP and under the edit languages area, click on 'Write Files'. If that doesn't work, re-upload just the language files from your local
'install/languages' folder. Once they have been uploaded go back into the Languages/Edit Languages are in your Admin CP and click the 'Write Files' choice again. That should fix this issue.

Thanks, it was the languages directory and these are the files that were blown up. no re-write was needed.

common.php
cp.php
cp_help.php

Gotta LOVE Beyond Compare!

Did the following:

Admin Menu still missing many items.
Any other ideas please???

This fixed it.

In all cases I've seen, manually moving the language files from the \install\languages\english directory to the language\english directory fixes this problem (note there is an s on languages in the install directory, there is no s in the regular language directory). After moving them, then use the language editor to write the files out again.
