(Applies to versions 3.0 and newer of FusionBB)

Beginning with FusionBB version 3.0, you can add and edit the BBCode to customize and add functionality to your website.

BBCode is an abbreviation for Bulletin Board Code, the lightweight markup language used to format posts in many message boards. It is also called forum codes.

Adding or editing the BBCode on your website allows you to wrap something into a html wrapper to do things such as display images, play music, or even show a YouTube video.

To begin editing the BBCode, go to:

AdminCP >> Edit >> Manage BBCode

There, you will see the following:

Top of the 'Manage BBCode' page

BBcode Title This is what you want to call the BBCode.

BBcode Tag This is the text for the BBCode, which goes inside the square brackets. For example, you might use b for [ b ] and url for [url].

BBcode Replacement This is the HTML that the Tags will be replaced with. Make sure that you include {param} to insert the text between the opening and closing BB code tags, and {option} for the parameter within the BB code tag. You can only use {option} if 'BBCode Use Option Parameter' is checked. For example, you would use {param} for tags, and a href='{option}'>{param} for [url=xxx] .

You will always use {param}, but you will only use {option} when 'BBCode Use Option Parameter' is checked.

BBcode Example This is a sample piece of BBCode to use as an example for this particular BBCode. For example, you would use
Code:

 [b]Bold[/b]

for [ b ] tags

and
Code:

 [url=http://www.example.com]Fusion[/url]

for [url] tags.

BBcode Description This is a brief description of what the BBCode does.

BBcode Use Option Parameter Setting this option to yes will allow you to create a [tag=option][/tag] style tag, rather than just a [tag][/tag] style tag. This allows you to specify a second option for a tag--for example, in the tag [font_size=10]TEXT[/font_size], the 10 would be the option and the text would be the parameter.

BBcode Markup Panel Button Image This is the 10 pixel x 10 pixel graphic that will be the button displayed for the BBCode.

When complete, click the Edit BBCode button.

The bottom of the 'Manage BBCode' page allows you to edit or delete existing codes.

In the example shown below, you would be able to work with the Font Type, Font Size, YouTube code, and mp3 code.

To edit existing code, simply click the Edit link to the right of the code you want to work with. This will take you to the Edit: Manage BBCode page where you can make your changes.

To delete the code, click the Delete link and confirm that you want to continue with the deletion.
