What do you use to track you visitors/users on your forums? Google Analytics is powerful, (and free) but in my opinion not optimal for a forum.

For web stuff I use the Cpanel web logs and AWSTATS which is one of the built in Log analyzers. It displays the site stats graphically.

For Forum traffic I use the Site Statistics option built into Fusion. I then create an spreadsheet that lists trends in the areas I wish to track.

I'd be interested in hearing what other folks use as well. Has anyone set up GA for use with FBB? How do you insert the GA code into the forum software?

We use GA and just put the javascript code that GA gives us into the footer insert.

You can also check out woopra.com. I have a hack to make it interface with fusion so that you can see members online in woopra by username.

Our GA code is also in the footer insert.

Does GA affect performance at all?

I haven't noticed any difference one way or the other.

I do know that some of my biggest most, performance conscious customers use it.

Finally got GA installed and configured and love it and no, I've not seen any hits in performance either.

StatCounter is pretty decent. If I hadn't already been suing GA everwhere already I'd be using these guys.
