I'm in full agreement - rapidly becoming the norm to access sites via mobile devices. I'll happily wait for bug fixes & tweaks for a more modern interface, auto detect resizing & full posting functionality for mobile device.

With FB & blogging software giving a modern interface & mobile/tablet compatibility, traditional forum platforms need to catch up. Forums have their strengths, ours is depth of reference, but folk want access all the time & that is increasinly away from the PC.

Yep. Everything else can wait as far as I am concerned.

I don't really post too much here but I have noticed all your points and have been addressing them for more than a year.

One is a more friendly phone layout.
One is better way to post to Facebook to bring folks back to our forums.

I tried that Tapatalk app on some other forums and in my opinion it pretty much sucked.

Check out www.chevytalk.org and look for the link for mobile mode. Inside each post you will also see a post to facebook button. Then check out my facebook page www.facebook.org/chevytalk.org and see how I integrated the forums and fb to tie together. I have been able to "increase" my forum traffic by 8% from facebook with out advertising.

I've also used email marketing to stay in touch with the folks that don't visit too much. I've been adding RSS as well.

I've also been able to monetize the site with various affiliate programs as well.

They are ways to get fb and forums to work together, its takes a plan and hard work. If you're interested in how you can do the same for your forum drop me a line.

Facebook can be a great feeder for our forums when used correctly.

I'm glad Fusion is getting some new life, its a great package.

What would be a real great add is to allow signups from a facebook account. Then fb users could sign up seamlessly onto our forum to post.

Is that a lot different to the standard small template? Can you add pics from it?

I can't see your facebook links as a guest but FBB does have the facility from 3.1 & I use it to post to our FB page.

Like it appears you do, we use FB to drive traffic to the forum. I've not measured any increase in traffic but any extra exposure is good & we get the odd comment & 'like' so not a waste of time

So Tapatalk sucks? Bummer. I recently mentioned to Josh that a facebook style format of recent topics/replies would probably go over better for those that love facebook.

The small screen versions here kinda suck. I did them originally so I can say that.

Most of the guys gripe because on some services, by the time it loads the forum stuff every time you have to click on 3 or 4 links to see a new reply it is super slow. And waiting for it to switch templates is brutal. It's so brutal on my phone I never even use it. Some guys say it isn't too bad on theirs as far as speed but it gets old they say having to zoom their screens to use every page. I really don't know what the complete answer is but there has to be some way to do it.

So I take that you have never tried it. Try it and make your own call.

The small template does leave some to be desired but it provides basic functionality and in many cases its more page views regardless.

The small template doesn't show some of the main template and as such it doesn't feed my Google AdSense links so that sucks. In fact if people select the small template from their PC it hides all the ads.

I like the way its currently working and as said previously its incremental traffic. I wouldn't consider the effort trivial and fb is as good as anything to find new members for our sites and worth a continued effort to harness it.

Even as a guest you should be able to see the bluefb icon.
