Let me see if I can make this easier to understand ... which sometimes is a tough thing since sometimes the translation gets lost between my eyes to my brain to my fingers typing.
I am going to use an example (which might change soon on my live site, so I have screenshots for examples). On the main index of my motorsports site, I have categories with forums in them. Here is a snapshot of part of the index:

Essentially the "Official Forums - Tracks" is a category with two forums under it. The "Official Forums - Drivers" is a category with four forums (that are being used as categories).
Now, look at the next screenshot of the "Driver Last Name S - Z (Official Forums)" listing:

This is all the sub-forums within this forum as a category.
Now, if I wanted to split this group up even further to by letter, the only way to do it is similiar to the level above ... instead of having all these forums listed as they are, it would be a forum called "Driver Last Name S (Official Forums)", "Driver Last Name T (Official Forums)", "Driver Last Name U (Official Forums)", etc. However, I might not want another level deep, and instead just want some seperation on the same page so that it is easier to scroll and read, just like the index. So, I would like the option of making a forum a category "header" only, like the top level. So, it would look like this:

I actually would like the "blue line" seperators to act just like a category, so you could click on them and get just that list of forums.
Essentially I guess it would be an option to make a category forum to either look like a forum (like it is now) or a forum header (like they appear on the index).
