Hello everyone, I'll try to keep this as short as possible, but I need some information / help / pointers with updating and changing the layout of my client's fussionbb site.

First, a little on my background, just so you all know where I'm coming from. I'm primarily a network and telephony engineer, not a coder, or high end web designer. I do web designing, but they're simple, per se, and I use Dreamweaver 8, Fireworks, etc ....
I'm also good at creating graphics .......
So my client got me on board to help change up the layout of his site, and let me tell ya ... I'm a little baffled.
I've been in the admin area, I've check out the cpanel, I've even viewed the source code of his site and hometheaterspot.com (another fusionbb site) and I have gleaned some information, but for the life of me, in like 2 plus hours, I couldn't even figure out how to upload a logo graphic and have it display on my client's site.
He's using the animace skin, which we want to change that as well, and so I even renamed the logo.gif that was in that directory, uploaded my image and named it - logo.gif, and it still didn't display.
So here are my first initial questions.
1. Can I use Dreamweaver 8 to change up the layout?
2. Are markups related to the layout in any way?
3. How on earth can I add the logo to the site?
(my client really likes hometheaterspot.com and would like something similar)

Obviously I know how to upload any files I want to his site, I just can't figure out yet what's getting pulled into the page from where.

Any information, so I can start changing up his site, and pointers to documentation would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks .....

I don't think so. The site layout is controlled by template files (sometimes multiple template files). They pull the styling from the CSS file.

Go to Admin CP > Edit > Inserts. The logo at the top of the page is placed by the code in the "Header Insert". You can use html code to place the image in the top or use a skin variable code so the skin controls the image placed in the header.

Yep, read read read. Read all the FBB Docs on this site. Read the built-in help files (behind the ? icons). Search this site for information. In most cases somebody else has already asked the question in the forums and the answer is documented.

And it is going to take a lot longer than 2 hours of reading. It could easily take days or weeks of working with FusionBB (and reading) before you really start understanding the software, especially when it comes to group permissions.

Also use the site search. When you simply search for "Logo" on the second page you will find reference to this post:

K .... I came across the header insert the other day, so I know where you're talking about.

But using <img src="<!--HEADERLOGO--& gt;

How and or where, do you specific the actual image file, ex: testlogo.jpg

What directory do I need to place the actual file in, and how do I reference it ?????

You can replace <!--HEADERLOGO--> with the full URL to the image if you like.

In each skin directory there is a config file and in there you can specify the logo image to use for that specific skin.
